Cherie Currie

September 20th, 2007 - News, Product

Cherie Currie and one of her scuptures.Cherie Currie has always been an artist. Her career progression has gone from rock band lead singer, to supporting actress, to author, to mom, to…chainsaw-carving artist. Cherie has taken a long and winding road to get where she is today, and recently she has been wearing Carolina boots to navigate that path.

Cherie Currie started out her career as the lead singer for The Runaways, a groundbreaking women’s rock band. Cherie shared the stage with recognizable names like Lita Ford and Joan Jett. The Runaways recorded three albums before many of their members decided to go in their own respective directions. Cherie went on to record two solo albums after the split of the Runaways. She also starred in a number of feature films during her career.

Cherie is currently working on the production of Neon Angel, a full-length feature film about The Runaways. Based on Cherie’s autobiography, Neon Angel is being produced by Art and John Linson. This father-son tandem has produced such major motion pictures as Fight Club, Heat, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Former Runaway Joan Jett and the esteemed Kenny Laguna (Days of Thunder, Flashdance, Shrek) have signed on as executive producers. Look for Neon Angel in theatres in 2009.

While she still continues to act, record and perform all over the world, Cherie can often be found chainsaw carving and sculpting incomparable statues in her own Chainsaw Art Gallery in Chatsworth, California. She carefully crafts unique carvings using a chainsaw as her main tool. Cherie competes in world chainsaw art competitions where she has won three awards. To see some of Cherie’s creative and breathtaking artwork, visit www.chainsawchick.com.

Carolina boots recently caught up with Cherie at a benefit in Los Angeles, California to honor Cherie’s fallen band member from the Runaways, Sandy West. Sandy, the drummer for the Runaways, was diagnosed with cancer in early 2006 and passed away on October 21, 2006. Cherie hosted this benefit and performed alongside a number of well-known acts including The Bangles and The Donnas. The tribute concert was quite moving and inspirational, and did well to preserve the memory of the great Sandy West. For information regarding the benefit, please visit www.therunaways.com and click on the Sandy West Tribute link.

Carolina hooked Cherie up with some fantastic boots, and she was so appreciative to find such great boots that she brought two members from Carolina to the benefit as her personal guests. Cherie wears Carolina boots every time she uses her chainsaw. We view this as a testament to what she thinks about the quality and performance of Carolina Boots.

Cherie is one of only a handful of professional female chainsaw carvers in America. She has developed an intense passion for this craft. Cherie said recently on her personal website, www.cheriecurrie.com, “I feel it gives me freedom to express myself as a real artist with complete control. No producers, no directors, just me.”

At Carolina, we’re happy to provide a boot that Cherie can wear while she’s fulfilling one of her passions. You can watch for her wearing her favorite boots (with chainsaw in hand) next time she appears on a show like Monster Garage.

We’re proud to have the full endorsement of such a versatile artist like Cherie Currie. We’re proud of our boots.
